I wouldn’t say you had a baby at all

Your hands are too hairy, something needs to be done about it

As a woman, I have heard all this and more many times in my life, which has made me think about the shape of our bodies and what standards we set and accept. During my project I wanted to document the variability of the body and abstract from hair, distortions, scars and find a new interesting form in them. During the experiment, I also grew body hair and tried to observe how I felt about it. It was often difficult to get rid of the feeling that everyone in a public place was looking at me as if I was too hairy. That in the end I couldn’t stand it and removed everything. I felt vulnerable, insecure, sensitive…

The final project was exhibited at Estonian Academy of Arts, Winter 2021
